My Latest Venture

Hello Readers,

I just wanted to share my latest venture with you all. I have started my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award and for my skill I have chosen cooking. I am going to complete the Explorer Chef Badge option two which consists of costing and baking:

Three different large cakes (20cm or bigger) with different icings and decoration, using techniques like rubbing in, creaming, melting and whisking.

  • A sweet or savoury tart, such as a quiche or a tarte tatin.

  • 12 iced and filled cupcakes.

  • 12 biscuits, iced using the flooding method.

  • 12 scones.

  • A loaf of bread using yeast.

  • 12 flatbreads.

I will then apply the skills used to make some more advanced bakes which I am yet to decide, this should take about six months.
