Awesome Party Grissini Breadsticks

Hello Readers,

to start I would like to apologise for the lateness of this post-I have had an awful cold and haven't been up to much over the past couple of days. Anyway, I had a family gathering on Saturday and have gained somewhat of a reputation in my family as a bread maker and therefore was asked to bring bread. However, as I previously suggested I wasn't feeling very well so wasn't up to making any bread. Instead, I decided to make breadsticks (the recipe has been adapted from Paul Hollywood's recipe). I have swapped a coating of sesame seeds with the addition of cayenne pepper to the dough to add a little extra party spice.

Makes 20-25 sticks

Ingredients

250g strong white flour

1/2tsp salt

3g dried yeast

2tbsp olive oil

150ml water

1tsp cayenne pepper

Method

  1. Put all of the ingredients into a bowl except the water then combine. Add the water bit by bit to form a soft dough.

  2. Knead the dough for 5 minutes then return to the bowl and rest for 30 minutes.

  3. Preheat the oven to 220C/200fan/gas7 and line 2 baking trays.

  4. Make the dough into 15-20g balls and without using any flour roll each bowl into 25cm strips. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Advanced warning:don't expect any valentines recipes-I am not making any tacky fluorescent pink heart cakes or valentines gifts-sorry.
